Is your angel sending you a secret sign? 

Once you establish a connection with your angel guides, they will begin communicating with you in ways you can easily understand—whether through visually perceived symbols or words and phrases received through clairaudience.

Visibly Seeing Angels

Belief in angels transcends religious boundaries, with a strong presence among Christians and those who attend religious services regularly. However, many non-Christians and even those who do not actively practice a faith also hold a belief in these celestial beings. According to Angels Around Us, a 2015 article published in Alvernia University Magazine, angels are ever-present, regardless of skepticism that arises from their lack of scientific proof. Their presence is not defined by visibility but by the subtle ways they make themselves known. By being attentive and open, one can recognize the signs that angels are always nearby.

Indeed, angels are always around us. However, during times of despair, grief, or hardship, we may waver in our faith, questioning whether they are real or if they can hear our calls for help—especially when it feels like our free will is momentarily suspended.

We don’t need to see our angels to believe in their presence. That said, they sometimes take on a visible form, appearing as a column of light, a prismatic beam, or even in the traditional image of an angel dressed in a white robe with wings. These apparitions may be significant to the messages they bring or the tasks they are carrying out at that moment.

Tuning In: Ways to Connect

To communicate with your angels, being a keen observer is important. Pay close attention to what you hear and feel, as their messages often come through subtle signs and sensations. The key is discernment and learning to still your mind, regardless of whether your environment is quiet or noisy.

Physical signs and symbols – Your angels may establish certain signs to convey specific messages. For example, in my case, the heart shape serves as a symbol. When a message or event is related to “love”, my angels present me with heart-shaped signs—a crack on the sidewalk, soap suds, or even a stain that naturally takes the shape of a heart. These signs appear randomly as I go about my day, whether walking or doing daily chores.

For me, the message is clear: “I am loved” or “Someone is thinking of me.” If it’s the latter, I usually receive confirmation within two days.

Sense of calm – Another way angels may signal their presence is through a sudden moment of stillness. It’s as if the wind pauses, all noise fades, and an unexpected calm settle around you. In that silence, your heart perceives the peace, followed by a deep sense of bliss and joy. One experience I had with this method was when my mother passed away, and I was thinking about how to raise money for her burial. I was at the supermarket buying essentials when, suddenly, a sense of peace and calm enshrouded me, as if everything was in a vacuum. I felt completely relaxed and at ease. For me, the message in that moment was simple: “Don’t worry.”

Words and phrases – Angels often communicate with me through words or phrases. These messages are usually cryptic or philosophical, and when they come as full sentences, they tend to be quite wordy.
For example, one message I received was: “Deliver us from a life of impermanence.” To me, this means I should pray for guidance and enlightenment, so I won’t be burdened by material insecurity.

Automatic writing – Automatic writing is another effective way to communicate with your angels, and it has helped me gain insights many times.

To try this, start by writing down your question or concern while keeping your mind open to receiving messages. As you write your own thoughts, you may notice a natural flow of insights, as if something is responding to your concerns. Write everything down without editing—don’t worry if the words seem illogical, unstructured, or grammatically incorrect. Once you read them back, their meaning will become clear, resonating with you in a way that makes sense.

For example, one phrase I received through automatic writing was: “Disappointment is a solvable misfortune.” At first, I wasn’t sure if “solvable” was the right word, but I wrote it down anyway. When I read it back, I realized it carried a message that made perfect sense to me.

Dreams – I have never received angelic messages in dreams, though many people say that is how their angels communicate with them.

Angels are messengers, and they deliver messages in ways we can be receptive to. In the Bible, angels delivered messages to Joseph, foretelling his role as Jesus’ earthly father in Matthew 1:20–21. The story of Jacob’s ladder in Genesis 28:12 also involved a host of angels appearing in Jacob’s dream.

Angels as messengers for your departed loved ones’ messages

Did you know that you can ask your angels to serve as a communication channel with your deceased loved ones? They can and will do this for you, as long as it brings you peace and closure and aligns with your highest good. You can use any of the five methods mentioned for this purpose.

Based on my experience, there are a few prerequisites to get started.

(1). First, call on your angel with love and respect.

(2) Then, state your purpose, the method through which you wish to receive the message, and ask if it is in your best interest to proceed. If you feel no resistance—such as nervousness, doubt, or second thoughts—you can move forward by telling your angel the message you wish to convey.

(3) Be sure to say the full name of your loved one, who is the intended recipient. For example: “My angel, please ask my mother, Alison May Smith, how she is right now.” The response may come instantly or take a couple of days to reach you. In this case, you may assign a sign or symbol to indicate that messages are being communicated—such as a coin or another simple, ordinary object that you do not normally encounter. That will serve as your shared code with your angel during spirit communication.

Being in Harmony with Your Angels

Developing a connection with your angels is more about awareness and openness than effort. Believe me, communicating with angels is effortless, especially if you do it regularly. Once you set the intention to connect, they readily meet you halfway, communicating in ways that are unique to you. You can ask your angels to communicate with you in a way that feels right for you, as each person experiences this connection differently.

The key is to stay attuned to how they reach out. Their way of communicating with you is like a secret code—one meant just for you. Honor that connection, as it is a sign that you are within the grace of your angels’ presence.
