Is it any coincidence that the conflict between Ukraine and Russia erupted in March, the month named after the Roman war god, Mars?
March, or Maritus, was the first month in the Ancient Roman calendar, also known as the Republican calendar, which was introduced around 738 bc and replaced the older lunar calendar systems, which only had 10 months. The months of January (Januarius) and February (Februarius) were added to the Gregorian calendar to complete the 12-month year that we know today.
That being said, is time a social construct or a man-made construct based on his illusions of events, made tangible by devices such as hourglasses, clocks, and calendars?
Time will always be a perplexing concept. Perhaps man’s greatest invention is time. Time may be an illusion through which we create our realities. Time makes us wonder if we are stuck or evolving. With the passage of time, we feel victorious over pain. Time causes us to anticipate or regret, remember or forget. This March, let us regard time in the context of self-renewal and being one with humanity, despite the fact that we are divided by our nights and days and time zones, depending on where we are on the globe, we are all interconnected.
